PostHeaderIcon Edition 6 - Message from Kenneth Jamaca, President, SilverBack Migration Solutions

We are halfway through Q4 2009 and the data center world is as exciting as ever! With data center construction projects underway (BAIS facility Ken Jamaca Profile Picopens in a few weeks, see below for details), Coresite is planning on opening a new Santa Clara facility next quarter, and there are rumblings of other major data center providers getting new projects underway this quarter and next.

The Green Gorilla surfaces again while reviewing some IBM zero emission data center concepts…we like that.

With the holiday season approaching, has anyone ever thought about the infrastructure Santa Claus needs to be able to effectively monitor everyone everywhere? Who has information on where he is hosting his data center? One could assume a proprietary facility on the North Pole would have excellent outside air cooling potential, however, how does he feed power?

Check out the blog on www.USDATACENTERLIST.com for more as we work out this scenario. Feel free to leave comments with your hypothesis as we get this holiday conundrum figured out!!

Blueprint Bay Area Internet Solutions (BAIS) goes live on December 1, 2009 with a new facility in the heart of Silicon Valley. SilverBack was asked to attend and exhibit during their introductory exhibition last week. Fun was had by all, and it is a truly awesome facility.

The facility is rated as Tier IV with N+1 redundancy and features a highlight of the newest technologies to supply customers with high-density power and top-of-the-line cooling, including more than a thousand high density cold aisle containment cabinets.  Security is extremely thorough, from security fences and monitoring to disaster detection and fire suppression.

Some of the “coolest” cooling features in this facility include:

  • Air Plenum Cold Air Corridor
  • Cold Aisle Containment Racks
  • 200,000 CFM Bank of filtered Small External Fans
  • 2800 tons mechanical Water-based Chillers and oversized Cooling Towers with primary variable pump system
  • Dew point and humidity control

BAIS Inc., founded in 1995, is a great choice to go with since they pride themselves on being Silicon Valley’s premier service provider, a world-class, carrier-neutral IDC facility offering N+1 infrastructure and flexible solutions, as well as excellent customer service and personalized business relations, at a cost you can afford.

They are listed on www.USDATACENTERLIST.com, so check them out!
